My Oil Tank is just 3 years old and today I noticed that it is leaking at the end just on a seam.. I was wondering if these tanks have a guarantee, as i have to get another one very fast, and get the oil drained and stored , I have the tank stored in a shed and cant understand how this has happened in such a short time.

    What make/model of tank ?

It won't be an issue with the manufacturer, as quite a few of these tanks have leaked mostly to faulty mixes within the plastics used, one particular company had quite problem with a leaking batch.
So make and model is irrelevant, would also be worth pointing out that your house insurance should cover any such problem with leaking tank, and more importantly soil contamination.
So a quick call to the manufacturer, the name should be labeled on the tank, will sort you out with a replacement.

Depending on make/model of tank you will have varying warranty, Titan have a 2 year guarantee period and from my experience stick rigid to it.
I would also tread very carefully and check your insurance before reporting it to your insurer, clean up after an oil spill has now become a specialist operation that can extract 100's of thousands from people.

Thank you for your swift repy, I went back to the shop that I purchased it 3 yrs ago and he more or less dismissed the idea of getting a replacement.. so I asked them to ring the manufacturing company.. he said he would tomorrow..
I have put some soap onto the tank as my neighbour said that might seal it until I get it drained.. I really do hope the manufacturer will understand and replace with new one..3 yrs is really a short time and of course the tank is three quarters full..
it is a Platinum tank 950L

That particular tank has a 2 year warranty.
How is the tank supported? Is it just on a couple of rows of loose or cemented blocks or does it have reinforced concrete lintels spanning the whole of the base of tank?
It may not be installed as per manufacturer's instructions.

3 years is a short time........... as long as its installed correctly.

If its installed correctly i would doing everything in my power to force the manufacturer to replace it.

I have a tank at home and its in position 15 years and its still in great condition.

Shane it is supported by four rows of concrete blocks, The leak at the moment is a pin hole size the end of the tank, on a seam. It is not out in the open but in a shed protected from the elements even..

Most tank problems come from a uneven or badly made base.

Id be looking at that before you replace

Rows of blocks is the worst way of supporting an oil tank. The weight of the oil in your tank weighs 740kgs plus the weight of the tank itself. That weight must be evenly dispersed to the ground through the blocks. Without the use of lintels, a portion of that weight is crossing the unsupported plastic part of the tank which can contort the tank & put unnecessary stresses on the plastic tank welds.
Being inside can obviously protect from UV light & is obviously not a factor in your case, but being inside & installed since 2008, it should have been bunded & fire protected. This could affect any insurance claim.
Apologies for this, but if you are going to re-install it, you may wish to have it installed correctly this time. Your previous installer should have made you aware of these parameters.
