Re-piercing ears

Hi, this may seem like a very random question, but my Mam got her ears pierced years ago and her holes are always closing up and giving her trouble, she really struggles to get earrings in. I was suggesting she let them close up all together then get them re-pierced, is this even possible? Not sure about scar tissue…
