First Time MG Classic Advice

I am thinking about taking the plunge & getting a classic for the first time. I have great memories of the MG's & I really like the look of the Roadster & Midget.
Which of the two would be a better car to get involved with?
Are these good or very troublesome cars?
What would I expect to pay for a decent model? I prefer the chrome examples.

    Thanks in advance.

yeah they are easy to work on and fun to drive. chrome bumper models will cost more but look much better i think.

Thanks, any idea what I should be looking for, Midget or Roadster, price range?

the midget and the roadster drive differently, my advice would be drive both and see what you think. i find the the midget more fun to drive, probably because its a lighter car than the mgb. as for the price im afraid you get what you pay for! plenty of mgs out there so take your time looking and bring someone with you who knows their stuff.

Thanks. Yes I was leaning towards the Midget for a couple of reasons. There seems to be more choice available with Roadsters though.

I saw a Midget beside a Discovery today in a car park. Its very small in a 'you wouldn't stand a chance' sort of way.

I don't think there would be many classic cars that you would stand a chance in, especially if hit by a Discovery or any vehicle for that matter.

    We have a Midget (66) and my cousin has a B (69).

If you plan on tipping around locally, the Midget will be fine, if youre going to be travelling in it get the B.

There's a beautiful early Midget on Dd at the moment.

The 69? If so, it's way outside my budget, but looks amazingly restored. Would love to have it.
I would just be driving it round locally but who knows if the bug were to set in! Why would that be?
