**** one, Seves 3 Iron gone.

    Was a great contributor.
And a person working professionally in the field.

Big loss to forum - best of luck Seve wherever you go.

Unfortunately for all involved he took issue with being warned for a breach of forum charter and decided to leave boards.

    What was his crime?

We are not going to get into discussing moderation decisions here...

I guess this is Feedback then. ( I can put in Feedback if required)

We should try keep lads like that on here. 99% of his posts were very sensible and knowledgeable - very inoffensive.

I acknowledge that the moderation on this forum is top notch and keeps it a great forum.

But everybody is going to have an off day and it is very difficult to not stray into the grey area of the edges of the Charter. The Charter changes too – not easy for regulars to bother to keep up with it.

Everybody has a shelf life here too. But, some people take an infraction as a slight on their character.

Anyway just a pity. Thanks for all the great posts Seve – don’t know if you will see this. Will look out for your books around the bookshops of Ireland.

A User name SevesThreeIron - that is golf in his blood.

A real pity, he had a good head, felt shafted and lost his grip!!

I enjoyed his contributions very much.

    Cheers

Pity he's gone, he'll be missed.
It's not often a bunch of lads would miss an STI :D
(Make up some line about his posts being infectious)

Golf is a game of silly rules, some may say this forum has it's questionable rules!
But one important thing is that golf is a great game and this forum is great even though we may not agree with everything.

Goodbye STI, you've left a lot of us scratching ourselves ;):D

I'm a bit of a sentimental old fool - but I put this up as, I know I would not have broke 80 without his and others help and the thread I did on here. Seve played a big part in that. The Fu^ker made me keep the thread going (when it should not have) - now he is gone. A good northsider kiss I will give him (a dig) ;)

Anyway, I know he was having trouble with his back. I have , we all have come on here in bad mood . It is nice when total strangers help each other here.

Anyway , should the virtual ever become real.

Can you lose a virtual friend ?

All will go on, the cycle restarts.

Certainly one of the posters I read most.

You can't but roll your eyes at this stuff. The po-faced policing of the forum, and Greebo sounding like the Whitehouse Press Office.

Hilarious how seriously some people take this forum / themselves.

    Speaking of too serious.

Other great poster on to me saying they are thinking of leaving too - **** one.

He got a warning, same as everybody else on that thread got.
    Not an infraction, a warning.
If someone thinks they are above the rest of us then they are welcome to eject the toys from the pram imho.

There are other things that I personally find far more hilarious on here...peoples attitudes to each other, childish bickering between adults, hissy fits, you name it, its all been on here in the not too distant past.

You might also cast your mind back to the days when we had no "po-faced policing"...seldom a new thread being opened and when there was it quickly descended into playground level abuse.

    Ahh, the good old days...

I know. We still laugh about you hitting your ball off steps, insisting they aren't an obstruction and a free drop would be cheating.

Indeed, for example that South County thread was like a soap opera at some points, with Gimbino or whatever he was called getting caught out beautifully just at the end to finish it off...:D

That's the thing with online forums (fora?). The playground mentality is never too far away. Ya gotta love 'em though!

For what its worth - I actually miss Conno..

Yes I know what he was and what his intentions were - but I genuinely found most of his stuff quite witty..

It generally just got out of hand when people who werent used to him reacted.

Is he definitely gone for good now as well?

Have to agree with that - he was a comic genius. You just had to get what he was at.

Always remember conno asking what you keep in your hat. He mentioned he keeps a coin, tees and a pen. Someone else posted a pic of someone with the biggest novelty baseball hat ever and asked did he keep his wet gear in it too. Pmsl.
