Just bought a 2009 Passat 2.0tdi 140dsg highline. Pleased with car but I thought it would have come with an iPhone connection in the glovebox.

Does anyone know can you retrofit one? Is so where is the best place to go to get it fitted?

On the Passat the Aux port is usually in the Centre console, did you check there.

If none, any half decent car sparks can do it easily, theres a good one on the Jamestown road in Finglas.

But to be honest its easy enough for a novice to wire, with the VW radios the new ones have connectors ready to go for AUX ports you just need to get the cable over to it. What radio have you got? RCD 310/510?

The radio is a RCD 510, touchscreen one. I just noticed an AUX port in the centre armrest.
So would I be able to use that to connect an iPhone?

Yep, just get an 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack and you can play the iPhone sound through the cars system.

Like this one, but you can get them cheaper.

Yes this will connect to an iPhone, but not like a dock, it will not chaarge the iphone or allow you to choose songs using the radio, you will need to use the iphone itself for that. Basically all this AUX port does is replace the earphones with car speakers.

Ideally I would prefer to charge the phone as well.

I think the radio is suppost to be Bluetooth ready. Any ideas on how to get this to work?

afaik You cannot play music through bluetooth with an Iphone. It is one of Apples annoying failures. Get yourself an Android phone to do that.
