Got one of these on the Bike To Work scheme .Only used it maybe 10-15 times -still has plastic protective film on Shimano logo on Ultegra parts!SIZE MEDIUM (note carbon/canti fork price has to be added to frame price below)

    http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/FRPXUJV2/planet_x_uncle_john_cyclocross_frame

    http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/cyclo-cross/product/review-planet-x-uncle-john-10-35538

Have been bitten by the cycling bug now and Im interested in upgrading to an all carbon road frame .Will consider selling this in any quantity eg frame and forks only .It's a real hard core cross bike -even has disc brake mounts !!!Yet its also comfortable and stable enough for touring/training/commuting.Make me an offer on whatever youre interested in .I think ideally Id like to sell frame, forks and cantilevers.

Hey, Are you selling a complete bike or the frame only? If its the full bike can you send me a spec and some details on condition and age.
    Thanks

So you paid approx. 1300 and the bikes is less than a month old, is that correct?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,739 ✭✭✭2011abc

Price paid is correct but its way older than that!Bought March 2011 but only taken out every few months really until New Year 2013.Sat in bedroom press unused from Summer 2012 to Christmas 2012 .Its so little mileage on it its never even needed a thorough clean !

It also has full sized decent quality black mudguards on it .

Its EXACTLY what you want ,needs nothing spent on it !Look Keos on it but obviously youd have to factor them into your bid.Id really only casually thought about upgrading my frame to full carbon road -and put all my parts apart from cantis on it.Im in Leixlip. Will check back on thread tommorow .Bye for now .

Yes of course you can view it any time.

Bike is immaculate so you should really take a look at it before buying anything else.

    2011abc, Thanks for your response.
I am not going to make a offer without seeing a recent photo and having indication of what you think the value is.
You dont seem convinced you want to sell and I am only interested in a complete bike.

You're right , it's a great bike ! Someone else abandoned a sale of a Planet X last week here ! The Uncle Johns , Kaffenbacks and Pompinos have a major cult following ! I will try get pic taken tonight . Do you have a max budget ? While the Other bike you're interested in seems like a very nice bike and at a fair price , mine has Ultegra mechs and shifters and is far newer. It's probably had the 'equivalent' of under 2 months on road, mostly dry use . It's spent most of life in wardrobe . It's so new I've only ever needed to give it a ' dry rag' wipe clean !

Jeez talk about the hard sell... 2011abc dissing the alternatives!

Should mention mine also has ultegra shifters and a new Carbon Team FSA cranset & bb.

Pic of Planet X Uncle John .Its not particularly clean at the moment. You can see I have put insulating tape under areas of frame at risk of scratching so its practically mint. You can also see the factory protective film still on Shimano rear mech and shifters!

    Link to entire pic album

Note bike has quality full size mudguards ,Look Keo pedals , really good Zefal pump and lights .

Guideline price -Very , VERY high three figures!

(Have just posted this for sale -999 for the lot or 399 for frame/carbon forks and cantilevers )

Thanks for the photo's. Bike looks good. I see the last offer you turned down was 500. Whats your best price now, and what is included in the sale now?

    Hi

I was originally looking for 650 but I would take 525 at the lowest. I will include everything that I originally stated in the post. (CX cranks & tyres).

I am mulling over it oscar, for that money it would have to be in very good condition. It seems like alot for a preloved aliminium frame with tiagra components, but I do like the bike and it is exactly what I am loooking for.

Best thing is to take a look at it and see what you think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,739 ✭✭✭2011abc

Not interested in Planet X then?

Good luck with the sale, but I dont think your valuation is realistic, even given your one lady owner, only used for the school run argument! :)

I think 750 would be a very fair offer, Its worth what someone is willing to pay. If you believe it is worth more hold on to it or wait for a better offer.

I need to look into what I can get a groupset for, building usualy works out more expensive.

I have looked into the sizing guide for the Unkle John frame. I am 5'11 so I fall between the medium and large, but I would feel safer ordering the large. Good luck with your sale.

I was measured in Trinity Sports Dept as "5ft10.9inches ".The bike fits me like a glove with lots of seat post up but above the safety marker .(Anything else is just extra frame weight and reduced rigidity!)I did five hours on it today .I LOVE this bike but I dont have room for two bikes and am fairly sure road racing is in my future!

OK 2011abc, I have found a cheap set of second hand shifters. Where do you live is it possible to organise a viewing?

I rang PX today and they recommended the large frame to me.
    Good luck with the sale.

Fair enough ,its a grand bike in general and you will enjoy it either way but you will be carrying around unnecesary weight and losing rigidity with that size large .
