    Hi Guys,

A friend of mine went on a long trip last week and parked his car ('04 Avensis) outside my house. The other night it was broken into and the rear fly window smashed.

The car is not covered by insurance so I will have to pay to get it repaired.

Can anybody suggest someone/company that can call to my house and repair the window. In addition anyone know what the likely cost for the repair of the fly window.

    Thanks

First thing that springs to mind is http://www.autoglass.ie/ unless there's a local windscreen place near you? No idea what they're like for price or service!

That's the risk of being uninsured. I can't see how its your responsibility to repair it.
You should be dead locking the car, press the lock button twice, this means the doors can't be opened from inside.

    HI Colm,

Yep, he told me that after I emailed him about the damage. It's now double locked. There was nothing to steal in the car so just malicious damage that has to be repaired. The owner is not back for another 8 weeks that's why I'm having it repaired.

    Thanks for the replies, guys.

Wouldn't be any harm to empty the glovebox (take the lightbulb out) and leave it open.

Maybe leave the keys at a friends house too. If it gets stolen you and your friend are screwed if there's no insurance.

Don't expect the window to be cheap. Autoglass quoted me around 200€ for a Fabia quarter window, just for the part. I ended up getting a second hand part from Summerhill Spares for I think 30 €.

If you're anywhere handy I'd imagine it's not too bad a job to do.

It happened me during the summer got a secondhand one in summerhill spares for €25 and changed it myself in about an hour easy enough job to be honest.
