Help: 140% over budget

We have spent aboiut 10k so far on an architect, got planning and issued tender. We were assured by the architect from the start that 100k would cover the work

Now we have 2 quotes in. one for 205k one for 235k, which means the whole thing was a waste of time, energy and money. I can unedrstand a budget overrunning by 20-30% but this is crazy

Is there any legal comeback on this architect?
