Group Workshops for Social Anxiety Disorder

Hi. While not too bad, I have a touch of social anxiety disorder and I feel that its holding my life back.

I have issues have one on one conversations with people who I believe are above my standing socially and I also have issues having one on one conversations with women I'm attracted with.

If I'm in a group setting, I have no such issues and I am quite outgoing. I considering myself to be extroverted in a lot of ways. I hate spending time on my own and I like to be around people.

In the past I have used alcohol as a crutch. Once I get a certain amount of drink into me, the anxiety related to the above eases and one on one conversations but a lot, lot easier.

I'm just wondering if workshops can genuinely help with the above. As it stands, I just can never be at ease when talking to women I like or certain others. I come across as completely wooden and I can never leave my guard down.

I can relate to you on most of above, I've never been to a group workshop type thing so can't advise.

Some SA forums organise meet ups but as you can imagine they don't happen that often.

You could try emailling Social Anxiety Ireland and seeing what they have to say.

Browse the website, post on their forum, see if you can get any local information.
Link works perfectly well for me.
