    Hi,

I used to get my peugeot 407 serviced in Cherry Orchard for the last 6 years but now that place appears to have gone bust. Can anyone recommend a mechanic that could take care of the following:

Front Suspension ball joint needs replacing as it appears to be worn ( nearside).

ABS and ESC indicators are malfunctioning as faulty , this has happened twice before and i was told it was a case of the sensors slipping out of alignment or something like that and when it's fixed, it happens again after 2 years.

Would appreciate any info or tips.

It's very important that you get someone who know's what they're doing to replace those front ball joints. There's a particular method that peugeot dealers use when they are replacing them which involves treating with a water resistant paint before fitting. I found no difference in price between the peugeot dealer and a local mechanic in replacing my front lower ball joints on the two 407s i have owned. The only difference I can say is that the car drove much better after peugeot did them.
The abs sensors fail regularly in these cars and must be identified by using peugeot planet software. There is usually a set fee of €140 for replacing a sensor. You could purchase the sensor yourself on ebay for around €30 and fit it if you know someone with the software but keep in mind that to replace a rear one the fuel tank has to be lowered slightly.
Keep in mind also that if you have the diesel engine you may want to check that your mechanic is using the correct oil that's recommended for engines with diesel particle filters.

The abs sensors fail regularly in these cars and must be identified by using peugeot planet software.

Peugeot Planet is the factory/dealer tool. This does not mean it is the only tool capable of diagnosing a 407 ABS system. There are multiple aftermarket scan tools available which will do the job equally well.
