Quick query guys ... My page on the cycling Ireland website says my licence has been printed. I'm presuming it actually gets sent to me but it hasn't arrived and it must be a month since the site first said it was printed. I have contacted them with the same query but no response. Can someone enlighten me here, can I expect an actual printed licence in the post?

I presumed they sent you a physical printed licence I only signed up to cycling Ireland there yesterday snd was under the impression they would send you one too once you paid the required fee for the type of licence

Yes you should get a plastic credit card style licence in the post! Having said that mine status said "licence printed" for quite a while before it arrived!

Yes they get posted out to you directly. Used to go via the club sec but that's changed now. Should be arriving in the next 1-2 weeks. If you're really stuck print off the page and the comm's usually accept these esp at the early races.
Can't believe how early the season is starting now !!!
Used to be the first weekend in march now it's creeping earlier and earlier into Feb. Hope the CI plan to extend races through August and Sept instead works out.
Mystifies me why so many want to flog themselves through the cold, wet and windy part of the year then sit around scratching themselves when its brright , warm and quite sunny.....

(But I'm old and grumpy .....)

Well I think you two are best left to roll around in the mud then ...

Licences seem to be coming out within 8-10 days. Remember they won't be sent out if your club hasn't paid affiliation fees.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,099 ✭✭✭morana

if you havent got 6 members registered it delays it which is daft imho. It was different when we sent to the club sec it was more economical to send a batch rather than individual. I am waiting on mine also but dont worry once you have paid you are ok but you will get it before the first race.

At the AGM we were informed the new system could print "thousands" of the licence packs overnight, and I had assumed the whole process would now be so automated (which is the whole reason for it!) that there should be no delays

Having said that I've actually received my 2nd card already (unfortunately the new process does not seem to cope with those requring licences with photos for racing overseas - manual intervention is still required, although I believe the numbers in question are very low)

well I think there is online 2 printers so thousands should be hundreds I would think

I was wondering if the licence packs are sent out according to the category of the licence or if they are processed club by club?
The reason I ask is that some members in our club received their packs last Thursday and as of today mine has not arrived.

I'm not in any major panic for it but just want to be sure mine hasn't got misplaced en route..

    Probably one for Morana:

Went online to renew my licence and notice that the provincial levy is being applied. Does this relate to where I reside or the location of my club e.g. I live in Meath (Leinster) & club is in Cavan (Ulster).

    Cheers.

Another one for you morana, probably should send this straight to CI, but you're generally quicker to respond! ;)

2012 licences are expired now, along with the insurance. Are 2013 riders insured from the point they apply to join CI, or from when their application is approved, or when their new licence arrives?

you get 1 months cover from your previous licence (to Jan 31st) when you pay for the new licence you are covered from that date. Thats my understanding.

Always thought that was something to do with the cross champs being in jan and a historic relic of the move to that date in years gone by...

(completely useless irrelevent and almost off topic point but there you go)

Off the original topic but seeing as its licence renewal time -

Do people feel the full racing licence is value for money? Rowing is the only other sport I've been involved in as an Adult and for that the competition licence is €50.

Why so much for cycling and why the extra for the privilege of not being in a club?

Apologies if this has been covered before - I did do a search .....

I would imagine insurance is more costly (with a higher risk of personal injury as well as public liability), and would also ask how many races are there? With cycling you normally have 2 or 3 open races in each province every weekend from the middle of February to the middle of September. Event entry fees are also a factor - I really can't see how different sports can be compared

No, still waiting ?! paid last week, just wondering what's the story if I don't have my card by this weekend (if I decided to race this weekend) ?
ie. I have paid, I have my number(online), but not the card or the printed number.

Thanks for the quick reply morana, only paid last week as other 'bills' rank higher than this one, and my financial partner disagrees with certain 'bills' :o;)

Paid last week. Print out for commasaire (sp) and licence arrived yesterday. Not a bad turna round.

Yeah, definitely way faster turn around than previous years. I suppose it's easier to get to the printer now that the office has been tidied.

Got mine in the post a few weeks ago, took them about a week to turn it around. No book though like last year...
