Grease Trap - what to do with contents

I've just emptied our grease trap (first time since we moved in almost 5 years ago :o) and, as I was unsure what to do with contents, have put them in a closed spare bin that we have for now.

Can I spread the contents in the garden or is there another recommended way for disposing of the gunk?

Ask at your local pub/ chipper or resturant, they might get it collected with their waste oil.

Do not dispose of it into the garden...(possible contamination).:

You can dispose of it at any Dublin City Council or County Council Recycling Centre Location or Oxigen Recycling Waste Centre in Balymount.:)

tag.png Thanks for the replies, folks.

@LIFFY FISHING - miles from any chipper or restaurant so that's not a runner for me. It's also different to the waste they'd produce so not sure how receptive they'd be.

@paddy147 - ah, yes, my OH will be going to Dublin tomorrow. Will load it in the back of the car and warn her to drive slowly to avoid spillage. Leave window open too to avoid being overcome by fumes. Hopefully some Good Samaritan will help her load the cargo onto the train when she arrives at the station. And likewise that Dublin Bus/taxis will be similarly accommodating :pac::pac::pac: Seriously, though, will check out the local landfill situation. Thanks for the suggestion.

@Kat1170 - lol, remember that episode well:)

I really do wonder, though: what percentage of people correctly dispose of their grease trap contents?

Op do you have a brown bin/compost bin?

'Fat' is one of the listed items ok to put in it. I guess this would be along the same lines

    No, unfortunately.

Our waste collector hasn't rolled out the brown bins in our area yet.
