    Hey guys,

I'm in need of a new car, have one found, its a 06 Mondeo Lx for 3,400 euro from a dealer. Don't have a link sorry cos the advert is in a paper!

What do ye reckon the best price I'd get it for?

I was thinking of offering about 2,500. Am I being unrealistic to get it for that price?

    Thanks

Right where to start, whats the condition, milegae is it price fairly against comparable models. If its priced comparable to others available i would be surprised if you don't get laughed at.

You paying cash or looking to trade in?

There are 22 2006 Mondeo LX listed on Carzone currently; only three of them are cheaper than the one you are looking at, and most are quite a bit more expensive. Unless there is a good reason why the one you saw is so cheap (massively high mileage, damage etc), then I would suggest you are most likely not going to get much knocked off the price. Certainy I dont think its even remotely realistic to expect to get a grand knocked off the price of a €3500 car.

Rule number one, be nice ;)

Go in doing the hard man "I'm goonna bargain him down" attitude and all you'll get is a salesman who thinks you're a pr1ck. If someone doesn't like you then they're not going to do you many favours. Also you do this for 20 minutes every 3 or 4 years, he does it for a living. There's only one winner there.

On this car, my guess is 5oo quid off, tops.

I doubt you'll get a grand knocked off just like that, if your decent he'll be decent.
You might see 500 off maybe but I'd say MAX.

Go look at the car see what it is like in person before committing to it.

As out of touch and sad as this comment might sound, truth is if your missus looks well and has a nice tight top, she'll buy that car far cheaper than you ever will. ;)

I could bring a picture of her to show the salesman maybe?
