Hiya guys, a friend of mine is looking to sell his VW Passat, and he actually asked me if his price was fair, so I'm wondering what you guys think.

The car in question is a 2005 VW Passat TDI Highline Estate.

    Make: VW
    Model: Passat
    Engine: 1.9 Diesel
    Year: 2005
    Mileage: 127,000 mi / 204,386 km
    Colour: Silver
    NCT Expiry: 10/14
    Tax Expiry: 04/13

    Equipment:
ABS, Airbag, Adjustable Steering Wheel, Alloy Wheels, Climate Control (Climatronic), Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors, Heated Seats, Leather Upholstery, 6 Disc CD Changer, Traction Control, Xenon Headlights

The car was involved in a minor accident back in 2008.

Car is in great condition, has full VW service history, and has been regurarly serviced. He put around 15k miles on it since he bought it.

Has some stone chips on the bonnet and front bumper, but no other visible defects on the bodywork and paint.

Inside there's some usual wear on the driver's seat, but the other seats are spotless - it wasn't a fleet car however.

    No rust, no leaks.

He imported it privately from the UK in 2012.

    He's looking for around €4,000.

    Fair price or not?

Before you ask, no, it isn't me. I don't drive a VW ;)

It sounds like a fair enough price to me. But I'm not a passat expert. Is it the new model or old model ?

I think he would get more than that for it. Those cars are in demand, even rough ones are fetching decent money.

Yes I know the one you are talking about. Still seems like a fair enough price id imagine it should sell fairly fast. Has your friend advertised it yet or is he just planning on selling it soon.

Mind you the car did have an accident in 2008. Wasn't anything serious as far as I know though, the previous owner had receipts from a garage for the left wing, bonnet, grill, foglight, bumper and left headlight.

He's looking at cars in the UK at the moment. He said if he picks something, he'll have the Passat up for sale.

The New model can be bought for 5500 so i reckon thats a reasonable price for a b5.5

Alright, this can be closed now.

    Thanks for the input!

The last of the older B5.5 models have a better rep for reliability than the early B6 models. I reckon that car could fetch €4500 easily. If it has receipts for cosmetic repairs then all the better, its not unusual for a car of that age to have had some sort of cosmetic damage/repair.
