    the best thing you can do is ask to see the parents working and ask for reference's from people who have purchased pups in the past. you're leaving yourself open by putting a post here because if that lad uses the site he could come on or get his mates to do the same singing the dogs praises.

    wifes father had a choc lab and our first dog was one witout papers so both of us just have a soft spot for them ,Im not looking for ftch or any thing but ad says breeding since 1985 would have thought someone would know of them,they tend to stand out in an area esp if there any good
