I think you'll get timewasters/chancers on every site. Just put it up and don't add your phone number, do everything by mail?
I find adverts and donedeal both pretty good, just ignore the "swappers".
Donedeal is better as people can't publicly push price down and then just leave it.

Unfortunately donedeal is your best option of selling it. There is loads of timewasters on it but loads of genuine people too.

Sounds like a nice car. Never seen a 130bhp one of them before.

I sold my shogun pretty much straight away. A lot of messers offering 20% of the asking though.

Way too many spammers on email. If an add had no phone number I wouldn't entertain it and I don't many would either

I know the spec is a bit different but I sold my 03 Octavia (90bhp) a year and a half ago for 1.5k, now it was to my dad so I have it a bit cheaper but 4k seems a bit much (I'm open to correction). On the topic of where to sell I think done deal is your best bet

was just going to say that. if there was no number and just an email i wouldnt even bother.

i dont think its the sort of car that would interest timewasters anyway.

Pricewise, I think you are a bit on the optimistic side.

Just make sure the add reads well, has all the information needed, and pictures pictures pictures.

every car on it attracts timewasters

I think it reasonably priced at 4k. Agree with the add/information/pics though

cheers for the replies , i'll probably try donedeal again and hope for the best
as the the 4k price there is room to haggle but not much
have just got it valeted today and have good pics taken
i expect to sell it easy enough as it is a higher spec than any of the irish cars on these sites (bought it from a main skoda dealer in uk )

VAG diesels are selling for mad money these days, given the rarety of a 130bhp TDi Octavia here I think the OP will get close to his/her asking price.

I think the op would be right to price the car at 4k. My dad has a 2005 new model ambiente spec octavia 1.9 tdi 105bhp lower spec than op 170k km on it. And he was offered 5k by two different people over the last few weeks. He's not even selling his one. People are going made for diesel cars specially ones around 5 k price bracket.
