Call the DSPCA. In the mean time, it may be attacking it's reflection. Try taping some cardboard over the glass.

Mod Post: I do not want to see any more suggestions regarding killing the animal or having carnal relations with it. Next person to do so gets a break from this forum.

A big white rooster turned up my parents garden years ago, in the middle of a town. They even had the Gardai calling around because the neighbours had complained about the racket it was making. They eventually lured it into a big cage and gave it to some hippies who wanted to breed chickens.

Do you know any hippies looking for a rooster?

    it is still there:)

i probably should start feeding it or something. i will leave water out and have given him some bird nuts - what else should i do ??

Try posting in the Animals and Pets forum, some one there might know what to do.

    Can we see a pic?

That is a good idea. Asking in there, or in the Farming forum, if someone from or near your area is missing a rooster might get you a response, not to mention that some in the A&P forum may keep fowl and be able to offer further advice.

Should be easy enough for the OP to get a pic of the bird. That way it can be confirmed what type of bird it is.

Since it is too late to call DSPCA, could you not call the Gardai? If you explain the situation to them, I am sure they can help you.

I'm wondering if he is an escapee from illegal cock fighting? Might explain the aggression.

Looks like a fairly young bird. I'd say that if you stick some signs up someone'll give him a good home.

In the meantime, don't let him hold you hostage; you're an apex predator, ffs! Run at him yelling and he'll back off in a hurry.
