    Hi folks,

Just found a bottle of Baileys in my mother-in-law's press. Unopened. Out of date since September of 2006. So, safe to drink?

I'm tempted, but my wife says no.

Try it, it won't kill you.

    You'll know by the smell.

It'll be fine, the whiskey will have kept it.

Baileys definitely goes off and the cream does go bad. You know when you try and pour it the "cream" is all lumpy. Won't kill you though its more curdled than sour. There is a sell by date on the bottom and I know if you go over that by a year then even a sealed bottle will have gone off.

On a side note - how long does it last after you open it? Do you go by the best before date even if you ahve openend it?

If it's open for any length of time over a few weeks, it should be refrigerated.

Some of you should know to report these threads rather than actually giving advice.
