Hey a friend of mine has a 2001 100bhp 1.9 tdi that needs an engine
I'm getting mixed up info about them and i want to know what engines will fit it
does the codes make a difference?
and will engines from skoda's, seat's or audi's fit?

basically, what do i need to look for to find a replacement engine that wll suit the car?

The 2001 Passat has an in-line engine, where as other Seat's and Skoda's at the time had transverse, so even though they're the same engine there may be key differences that might make the wrong one more difficult to fit.
The Skoda Superb of that era has an in-line, as does the A4 and the A6. That would be all that would be guaranteed to fit I reckon.

ok then, i have had a few saying you have to match the engine code and other's saying that you don't
    any one know for sure?

You don't have to match the codes but if you get a 130bhp engine (AVF or AWX code) then you should swap over your own 100bhp AVB code injectors into the replacement engine.

Transverse engine can be made to fit but it is a lot of work.

    tha'ts grand, thanks

is the turbo not different on a 130? or is the bhp difference done by the computer/injectors??

Turbos will be different, you can still use the if they match up. B5 audi a4 has an line engine aswell just so that you know.

Turbos are different as posted above but most secondhand engines you get will not include the turbo anyway.
