Cost of a Sky call out?

    Hi all,

Despite having bought numerous remote controls now, they will not work on my Sky box. The one I had first day was always a bit iffy.

I have bought the two in Tesco, no joy. It's not the batteries either.

Just wondering how much it would be to get a Sky engineer out, or if I could fix the problem someway myself.

    I'd appreciate any information,

    Thanks

Better to ring local and get quotes..

.. Sky will charge an exorbitant call-out fee before any work is done.

What's the problem? I've always found Sky remotes to be very solid. They can take quite a beating.

Might be something to do with your setup. Are you using a magic eye? What's the location of the Sky box? Is it in a cabinet?

Do you know somebody with a simular sky box where you could try your remote. If you threaten to end your contract with sky you will find they will probaly offer you a new box or remote. If that does not work there is a lot of second hand boxs for sale on adverts.ie, donedeal as well as other sites

I bought the oldest version of the Sky remote. And then the HD one. None of them worked. What happened in the end was a Sky technician called and told me to get the Sky + remote that matched the one I had broken. I didn't think the answer would be that simple!

The HD remote can be used to control either a Sky+ box or a Sky HD box. There's a few buttons you press to configure it. No need for a new remote.

Could you tell me how to configure the HD remote?
As I have it at home still I never exchanged it.
