Home Heating Oil Consumption - can this be right??

Just completed a renovation on a house and we are not long moved in, house was completely replumbed and new high efficiency boiler fitted, 3 zones etc etc
We have the heating on for about 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening, hot water about 30mins in morning and same in evening.
We would boost heating for an hour or so if a chilly evening.
We put 300L into the tank on the 2nd of Jan and this morning, no oil!
Have a lock on the tank. 4 bed house with valves turned down in rooms we dont use
I think this is excessive usage - maybe im wrong??
Could their be a leak or would there be any other possible expanation?

    Thanks!

Was your new burner commissioned properly?

Is it possible that you have an underground leak in the Fuel line.?

What is your thermostat set to?

I'd expect a fill,1000 litres of oil to last no more than 3 months at height of winter so 300 in a month sounds like normal usage.

Also do you need 2 hours in the morning? Is the house occupied during the day?

Ive used 250l in the same period for 3.5hrs heating per day on a similar size house so youre right on the money.

Firebird boiler set 2hrs in evening and 1hr morning. September'ish to May'ish.

Badly insulated (getting that sorted), so can hear burner (burning oil) 70%+ of this time.
Use 1000 ltrs annually, so about 110 ltrs per month.

Extremely easy to get a pressure test on your oil line, and your jet size verified and also check if your thermostat is working correctly.

Eg. When house is cosy, can you still hear burner "burning"?

What square footage is the house? It sounds about right to me. You can expect an average condensing boiler to use up about 2.5 litres per hour or 10 litres per day x 30 days = 300 litres so not all that unusual and January was pretty cold.

You're hardly burning 110 litres per month from April to November so you can triple your Winter consumption to 300 odd litres per month.

Try this:i plumbed up a 5litre drum with marks every half litre and I got the following readings:
    Heating 1hr 1 3/4 litres, 2nd hr 3/4 litre total for 2hr straight 2 1/2 litres
Hot water 1hr just over 3/4 of a litre
Using it wit a stove wit back boiler 2 * 30min boosts 1 litre

Grant Vortex 50/90 condenser boiler ,so it's nearly as cheap to leave the boiler on for 4 hrs a day *7 .90c = €25
Than fuelling a stove wit back boiler, coal €16.50 + timber + briquettes

1,000 litre tank filled one year ago today, Heating on from 5pm to 10.30. Stove in lounge and waiting for the tank to run dry.
Fitted insulated dry lining, space heating stove in lounge, attic insulated and pumped beading into wall cavity a few years ago. Then topped it off with new double rads of lower Kw and TRVs to compliment the set-up. Paying dividends, down to one oil tank fill per year. Mild enough winter though.

Thats very interesting, so is it more efficent to leave the oil on continually rather than turning it on and off a few times?

Is it more efficent to have it on continually for say 2 hours at a time rather than having it come on for a half hour in every hour?

We have our heating on 24/7 from November.
We have Digital 5/2 day stats with 5 prog for each day.
We are using about 150 litres per month.

Sorry about this but the thermostat on the boiler that I use which burns Diesel Gas Oil is at 60 degrees, I could have it at 75-85 deg but more oil would be used, I also have a solid fuel stove which works in tandem with the oil burner.
