06 Renault Laguna Unlocking Issue..

I have a 06 Renault Laguna that has the key card. Lately both cards have been struggling to unlock the car. There's no issue with locking it or starting it, unlocking is a pain. It will unlock but seldom after one press, perseverance is required. I've tried new batteries but that made no difference. Any ideas?

Had a similar problem last year, although with an older Toyota. Great fun when you are standing in a downpour and it takes 20 tries to unlock the car. Changed battery, no change, went to a key place to ask for advice and the guy there asked me to check for blown bulbs. I thought he was pulling my leg, but one parking light wasn't working. Put in a new bulb and the door unlocked again without any problems. Still can't undertand it, but worth a check.

If your card is the 2 button unit then this is a very common complaint and easily repairable.

The repair involves slicing open the card and then some work on the internal pcb. It is strictly a job for a professional .

Its the unlock button on the fob its worn very common on the renault card key. You will need to be able to solder to replace plus the card will have to be opened as its designed as non serviceable part this is a little tricky to do.

There is a couple of on line tutorials if you google it.

Dont by used keys on ebay as they can't be reprogrammed.
New card keys are only available from renault dealer and car and key are programmed to match. Maximum 3 keys can be programmed to one car at any time. New key programmed was 250 euro if I recall correctly. Dealer give you current price over phone.

    Best of luck with car
