Can you photocopy a certified copy and send it?

I realize this may be a stupid question, but can you photocopy it yourself or does it cease being a "certified copy" then? edit: okay I guess not. It just seems a shame to pay €15 for a cert and have to send it off again.

Once the photocopy is verified by Garda or the school, it's not a problem.
