Budget Android on O2: Samsung s5830 Galaxy Ace or HTC Desire C

My mother wants an android phone. Both of the phones in the thread title are €129 on O2. She won't be using it for anything complicated, calling, texting, maybe Whatsapp.

When she asked in O2 and the Carphone Warehouse they both suggested the Samsung would be better for her as a new android user. I had originally told her the HTC is a newer phone, more internal storage, more powerful processor, etc

So basically, the question is - Did the guys in the shop have a point or were they just trying to sell an older phone which might not be for sale much longer? Is there any advantage to having the Samsung over the HTC?

    Thanks
