Does anyone know who does reasonably priced tyres for some of the more decent brands. Not interested in economy tyres.

Do you want online or a shop? If shop, where are you?
I use Uniroyals and cannot fault them. Pretty cheap online like eirtyres.

Falken FK452s are one of the best value tyres. Just check tyrereviews.co.uk and get the best tyres you can afford

Well I am based around Leitrim & Dublin. I would be interested in shoping on line or going to a garage. Is there a Uniroyal near by ?? My tyre size is 215/60 R15. I am told this is not a common size ??

B F Goodrich are a good mid brand tyre as are Nokian ans Vredestein (all are as good as the premium brands) however trying to find dealers that stock them is a problem. Too many tyre dealers nowadays are stocking only 5-6 brands and you will hear Firestone are agood tyre they are made by bridgestone and so on.

I am afraid it a case of the yellow pages a phone a and two hours work and work through the list.

I got B F Goodrich last years for my son car for 55 a pop they were I think 185/50/14 but not sure offhand

Yes on the 452's I bought some a couple of months ago as they were the best value in an awkward size. They love being pumped up at high pressure though, are known under-perform at normal PSI. Mine are at 2.7bar, which is the spec for the car.

Anyhow, the 452s are quite old now (replaced by the 453's which seem good but a bit more wet driving focused). Alternatives are Kumho or Hankook (Ventus V12) or Nokian (G2 irc).

Whats your opinion on 2nd hand tyres. I can get good year tyres for €44 each fitted with 75% thread remaining. Is this good value ?

If they are premium tyres eg Continental/Michelins, and you have a 16"/17"/18", then yes good value.

So, what brand/size are they offering for €44?

Any comments on Firestone can get a set €10 cheaper than Pirelli and Bridgestone.

    www.camskill.co.uk

Good for doing price comparisons with Irish prices. Can save a fair amount even after paying for the tyres to be fitted.

When I am back home I use Best4tyres for my wife's car. I am not sure if they have fitters in Ireland but they do mail order like Camskill so might deliver and you sort your own fitting.
