Skoda - replacement bumper - overcharged?

My Dad got a replacement back bumper on his Superb 2012 done at a Skoda dealership/garage.

For 90 minutes work he was charged €605.

    - Skoda bumper/part
    - labour: spray and fitting
    - VAT

    Is this excessive?

(I think the bumper alone cost just under €400.)

    Bumper 400
    Main dealer labour 2 hours @ €75 = 150
    Paint etc

Sounds reasonable enough to be honest (for a main dealer.)

    90 mins work?

Did it come painted from the factory?

Regardless, if that was the full price for labour and parts, it was not expensive at all.

    OK, that's good to hear.

Its just I was talking to the mechanic as he finished up. I had the bill at that stage.

I don't know much about cars/prices so I mentioned how I thought €400 was alot for a bumper. He said do you mean €400 for the total price. No, I told him it was €605 in total - he said that was expensive.

    So that got me wondering.

My Dad was in touch with them a couple of weeks ago so I think they had to order the part in. I think the garage also sprayed it too.

Bumpers normally come in primer and need to be painted.

The 90 mins might cover the fitting, but it certainly wouldn't cover the labour and materials cost of painting, which could be 200-250 euro easily on its own.

For a whole new bumpr sprayed and fitted that's not bad. You could easily spend €300 yourself just for painting.

The fitting by the garage sounds strange though - usually the body shop would look after this unless they sprayed the new bumper seperately without the car being there.

Over the last week or so, the owner (I think) said a few times about getting it sprayed. Not sure if they were doing it or someone else.

Metallic silver - so I suppose that could be done without the car?
