    Guys,

I want to do a masters in Engineering by distance learning with the goal of becoming chartered with Engineers Ireland.

I am currently working in the Middle East so it has to be a distance course. I have a post graduate in Highway and geotechnical engineering but would diversify my study area if the right course appeared. e.g. Sustainability,Civil

What do you see as my options? in Ireland/UK?

I have only looked at the Open University and it would be possible to do it over 3-5 years at a cost of roughly 12,000 €

What is your opinion/opinions of employers on an OU qualification?

    Any advice welcome.

    Penny

Dont think you specially need a masters to get CEng if you graduated with a level 8 before this year

    Thanks for reply Godtabh,
I graduated with a level 7 diploma in 1999, Then a post graduate diploma in 2011. I must check with Eng Ireland..

Why not try the Institute of Highway and Transportation. I don't think you need a masters to get CEng from them either.

12k and 3/5 years study to get Chartered seems crazy(to me anyway)

Thanks xchancellor. I will look into the the Institute of Highway and Transportation in the UK about steps required to become chartered.

I feel I need to get to master level to compete for work in the future. I am coming up short with only a level 7 diploma and a post grad diploma.

Whichever course you select, make sure that it's recognised by EI.
