    Alan Ball has left after Season Five. I wonder how Season Six is going to go without him at the helm. Mark Hudis is taking over - he has worked on That '70s Show, Cybil & Nurse Jackie.

    It will be easier though in some ways as he did slim down the cast a fair bit. How many disappeared in the last few episodes? Although four babies arriving will bring it back up again :D

    It would be a real pity if the quality dropped now that Ball has gone.

    EDIT: Ball will still be an executive producer - I wonder does that have anything to do with Harris. Because she had turned down various offers of TV rights for the books until Ball's offer.

    Creators almost always retain a exec. producer credit even after they give up their show-running duties. It depends on the particular situation as to how much or how little that creator has to do with the show after they take their hands off the reins.

    What is clear the success of True Blood was mostly down to Ball's sensibilities and talent and very little to do with the source material. It's very easy for this show to veer from being smart dumb-fun into just dumb fun and there's plenty of that available. They have to deliver a good season this year or the super fans will turn on it very quickly.
