If you live in the republic you have to re register it by bringing it to your local nct centre and so on, on the insurance part it would depend on what cover youre taking out

Yeah you have to book an appointment with the nct to get it inspected so you have to take your tractor for them to see!!
They will give you your new reg number and you pay them the import duty 200 euro now i think sure someone will
correct me on this if im wrong!!

NCT'ing tractors? Is she a fastrax or something? We've never NCT'd a tractor, never. No bother taxing them every year.

ya have to bring it the nct centre so they make sure its what it is meant to be,the vrt office is in our local nct centre so that might be the case in most centres

Do you pay VAT if you buy a tractor in the north

Unless you have a valid Irish VAT Number you have to pay VAT on a tractor bought in the North!
