And he just broke his own world record by surfing this 100 foot high monster in Portugal.

Well that editing isn't annoying or anything!

Totally took away the awe from the achievement for me.

Please show us a video of him surfing a wave instead of 2/3 second cuts.

Still not as impressive as some ofthe surf on the west coast. The beach breaks just aren't the same as a nice reef break. It looks likes a big hill he is sliding down rather than what you see in Aileens or Mullaghmore. Still impressive though for the sheer height and balls he has

You're doing great, -wave to the camera.

I think surfing is one of the stupidest sports ever, after mountain climbing, skiing, and walking.

For some reason watching that video of a brave man on a wave makes me want to splash myself with Old Spice and drink Guinness.

    Funny that.

McNamara can we claim that one? Irishman rides out biggest swell

Heck we'll make the record prestigeous whilst we're at it if its not in the book, it's not worth a fook.

Not wanting to rain on parades here but it's not confirmed yet whether it was 100ft and whether he broke a record.Apparently people posted it online that that was the case and the Guardian et al got hold of the story but it's validity has yet to be confirmed.Still looks like a decent wave mind :)

so it's not in the book :(

that's a pretty fcuken sensational thread title, bravo. Garret would be proud

My OH has been surfing for twenty years and told me this yesterday.Said it's quite embarrassing as no way would Garret want that info out when it's only based on the hearsay of bystanders. His previous recent record has been confirmed but this hasn't. You can have a look on Magic Seaweed

gmac himself has never claimed it as 100ft. the guardian did a hatchet job using last years footage and it got picked up by the worlds media. i sat and watched it explode on the internet, and now its going to sit on 'reputable' news sites the world over and become fact.

    http://magicseaweed.com/Garrett-McNamara-I-Am-Not-Claiming-100ft-Wave-Content/4111/

it really drove home to me the dangers of info getting repeated on the internet from a dodgy source.
