    Hi guys,

I hope this is an appropriate forum to post this. I am doing a dissertation in the area of hedge funds and hedge fund administration for my masters. I have been researching recent scandals in the area. Madoff being an obvious one. I have been trying to look in to the Custom House Capital debacle but have some trouble with their site being gone, Custom House having a similar name cropping up a lot of my search efforts and other reasons.

I am trying to identify if the company was involved in Hedge Funds, I know their primary business was pension funds and retirement plans as well as some offshore property but I have read from numerous sources they were involved in other investment funds also. I would like to know if hedge funds were included in this. I’m starting to think even if they were it might have been such a small part of their business the scandal might not be useful for my purposes. If anyone could confirm that the company was involved in hedge funds or not and the extent I would be very grateful and it would save me a lot of time, in researching the situation further if it is not suitable.

On a side note if anyone can think of any good resources about Hedge Funds in Ireland that would also be very helpful.

Thanks for any and all help

I'm not sure what proportion of their funds was pension v hedge. To be honest I never thought they were a hedge fund per se but moreso investing in property but I stand to be corrected on this. There was a good few articles on them in the Irish Times and the Sunday Business Post but I'm not sure fi even they will reveal all the companies activities. Their listing on the CRO should reveal what their activities were and if they were involved in hedge funds then it should say that. If they've been struck off already the info may not be there but should be searchable in an archive.

They certainly make for an interesting dissertation. Apparently a lot of judges, politicians and senior civil servants and RTE starts have lost millions through Custom House by way of bad property investments. Some of it has been recovered thorough an investor compensation scheme but most has been lost.

there's a good book called House of Cards about the CHC debacle - its a quick enough read and only a few quid on kindle - don't think it would really be considered a hedge fund though
