Ring your nearest garage and ask them can they turn it off with a diagnostic meter. usually does the trick. good luck

Thanks - Can I disconnect fuse for it - My local garage main on Holidays!

Probably not. When you switch the ignition to "on" all the lights come on and go off when you start the car. If that particular light doesn't come on then the N.C.T. mechanic might spot this and fail you on a blown fuse.
It doesn't really have to be a main ford garage, most mechanics have a hand held diagnostic meter and can normally switch off the light depending on why the light is on.

Argos/Halfords sell diagnostics scanners, I have one, they're very handy. If you really want the light off and don't mind spending a few quid, that'll turn it off, and tell you what the problem is.

    how much is scanner?

How much will it cost me at a normal repair/service garage - just need it turned off!
    Thanks

Wow they're over E200, I only paid 80 for mine online.

Maybe if you disconnected the battery, and touched the positive and negative leads together to discharge the capacitors (laying on the horn also discharges the capacitors) it would wipe the memory and reset the error codes.

If on the off chance you're around Maynooth, I could reset it for you with my scanner.

just go get the test done, if its only a temp fault code that triggered it a visual retest should be free

I am sure your test is done now, but you dont necessarily fail a test because this light is on unless the emissions are affected.

So, how did you get on?

The Engine Management Light on is not an NCT fail, only on diesels.

I have a scanner that I got for 20 quid new, so they can be bought cheaply and they are handy.

    You're all set so OP:)
