    Hi,

I have a 05 Volvo S40 and the engine has gone in it (piston issue) and need to be replace. Just wondering if anyone has had this done reciently where to get it done and the cost involved?

    Thanks

It would be very important to know exactly how and why a piston failed(or whatever the exact issue is) before you decide what to to.

    Thanks guys,

Sounds like the pistons when through the engine block, my wife was driving it and got towed to the nearest garage. They mentioned that it was due to metal fatique.

An oil type, level or supply issue would be vastly more likely then metal fatigue. That is almost unheard of in modern engines. The only time I've seen it happen in modern cars is when people have mis-shifted, i.e changing from 5th to 2nd by accident instead of 5th to 4th.

Either way the reason I said to be sure of the cause it that if it was a fuelling or air/fuel ratio or any other electronic problem that cause the failure then the original cause will not be fixed by just replacing then engine.
