Hi, I have my NCT this evening and car was checked over the weekend and everything was fine. Double checked this morning and noticed that one of two of my rear registration plate lights is not working. Don't have time to leave the office between now and the test apart Fromm break when the test is on. Does anyone know if its a failure to have one light gone.

Think it's a fail advisory for the lights on the reg plate.

    You will get a Pass/Advisory.

Only tested My car last week,,and the number plate lights were both not working.
    Still got the cert though.

    Fail advisory wins
Item 61, Registration Plate Lamps, is now a Fail Advisory item.
Failure of this test will not result in overall failure of the vehicle. The owner/presenter is to be advised of the Fail Advisory item and urged to have it repaired as soon as possible.

    REGISTRATION PLATE LAMPS

    Method of Testing
Check that the registration number plate lamp(s) shows a white light and is operating effectively.

    REASONS FOR FAIL
    1. Not working, faulty or not fitted.
    2. Not white in colour.
    3. Lens missing or broken.
    4. Showing direct (not reflected) white light to the rear.

Going by that I would imagine that if there are 2 lamps, both need to pass the test.
A tester may pass without it or at least allow a visual retest.

Well car was done and it passed thank god, it was a pass advisory as stated. The concerning thing was I put a reconditioned tyre on my spare as I barely use it but the mechanic told me its 13 years old, time to buy a better spare I think.
