Coneheads in Melbourne do pretty good taco/cheese/garlic/mexican type chips

If you just want chips with salt n vinegar, its exactly like home. Generic chippers will use frozen chips, and the better places will use real chips. Find a place that does real fish and chips, or a gastro pub.

I haven't found a single chipper in Sydney that does handmade chips.

Have considered setting up an Irish chipper in one of the Irish ghettos. Problem is the protection money would kill the business.

I can't remember anywhere and I tried a lot of places. I'm not sure bit I could have got some in the fish and chip shop on the corner in lygon street. The fish was very nice anyway, can't remember the chips

Lord of the Fries have terrible rigid chips, half decent at best.

Arseburger if you call it The Snapper I'll come and visit it for a decent bag.

I'll have a look round Lygon street cheers Slunk.

Where are you based? I can think of two off hand. Both in the east.
Pretty good fish and chips, we used to swing by one on the way back to

Across from the Duke of Glouster, corner of Covelly road. Pretty good fish and chips, but it's been a very long time since I've been. All it takes is a new owner and a place can go to crap.
Where are they in east Sydney Mellor?
There was a place on glenayr ave near bondi beach. We used to call into it after a day at the beach, proper chips, covered in vinegar.
I just had a google to check the name and one site said it was closed. Disaster if so.
