    Hi all,

Really hoping someone can help me with this problem im having with my laptop. I have an asus x401a laptop and when i plug in headphones in the headphone jack of laptop i can hear this constant beeping sound through the headphones. If i play a sound(e.g movie, or song) then it stops for as long as i playing the sound and starts up again 10 secs later as soon as it stops.

There is nothing else connected to laptop (all usb sockets free) and you cant hear the beeping through the laptop speakers, only when headphones connected. Could anyone offer a solution how i can stop the sound ?

Is it more like a fizz/buzz sound? Try with laptop on battery only.

Have you tried another set of headphones to rule out those being the cause?

Hi, no its not fuzzy sound. I have tried with battery only and still the same and i have tried 4 other sets of headphones all with same issue.

Its a constant beeping that only goes away when a sound plays on laptop. If i pause a song on itunes the beeping will start within 10secs and will keep beeping until another sound played. This beep only happen through headphone jack.

Completely stuck how to solve issue

Mute the microphone(recording volume and playback volume)

Worked for me on an Asus k50c

I have come across lots of laptops that make noise in the audio output, however its 99% electrical noise and never a sound generated by a program written by human hands.

So what im trying to see, is this a distinct on/off frequency, thats defo controlled by the sound software?

Thats fairly high end hardware when the sound can be headphone output only, not speakers.

to get an idea of whats what, What OS? -XP,Win7 etc???
How many processes are shown running when you do Ctl-Alt-Del, Task Manager, Processes.?

    .

You can always run a linux live cd to eliminate software fault
