So, I've just finished my 18 month contract with Meteor on my Galaxy SII where I was paying €50 per month for 400 min/400 texts/2gb data. The way I see it I now have 4 options:

    - Free upgrade to a Sony Xperia T
    - Free upgrade to a Galaxy SIII mini
    - Upgrade to a Galaxy SIII for €150
    - Change my plan to the sim only plan for €25 a month (200 min/1gb data/unlimited texts)

So if you were in my position which would you do bearing in mind I'd have to sign up for another 18 month contract if I was to upgrade? Anyone switch from SII to SIII and is there much of a difference?

    Cheers!

Go with the S3. If you get a lesser phone you'll probably regret it. If you go with this its very unlikely you'll regret not getting an inferior phone...

Shop around the networks, I got a 12 month contract and the HTC for €130 with O2 - and that was 9 months ago..

Would you hit that 1gb or 2gb cap much?

using s3 myself on 3 so get 15gb plus free calls and texts for 40 quid a month on a 2 year contract.

If you really wanted though is hold out for another month or so and see what the s4 is like.

Can you trade your SII in with meteor to get money off the S3 or S4 if you wait, or is the 150 figure inclusive of a trade in.

Firstly I would change the plan you are on...something like this maybe - emobile all you can eat

Then see what you can get on Amazon or something from china for a reasonable price....

I believe meteor have a 40 Euro plan (only available online) that matches what you are paying now.

Might be Ts and Cs around it though im sure.

You can't upgrade online - you can on avail of the online prices as a new customer (or coming from PAYG)

    Op upgrade to the s3.
But look for a better package from meteor, they are available.
I got the phone 6 months ago, 35 per month, 12 month contract and 150 upfront.
Sell your phone on done deal or adverts. You could get upto 250 euro for your old phone if it's in good condition.

Just remembered - Car Phone Warehouse do a trade in option as well, so if you do change phone at least you will get some money off your upgrade...

    Cheers!

Sony Xperia T is a very well spec'ed phone. I think it has a 14M Camera! So if you use your camera phone a lot it might be something to consider.

Don't bother with the Galaxy S III mini, its basically a Galaxy S II.

The Galaxy S III is nearly a year old now. Don't get me wrong it is probably the best android phone out there.

What condition is your Galaxy S II? Would it last another 6 months or so? Android 4.1.2 (Not a custom ROM) will be available from Samsung for your Galaxy S II soon. That upgrade will make it feel like a new phone.

Another thing to consider is that the Galaxy S IV will most likely be announced in May with it being rolled out to networks before July.

So if I was in your situation, I would upgrade my GS II to 4.1.2 when it is released. Change to that €25 a month plan until you can upgrade to the GS IV. Use that €25 a month saving to go towards buying it :)

I would also recommend changing to the rolling monthly contract and continue to use your SGS II if it's working OK, at least wait and see what MWC brings at the end of next month.

Megapixel isn't everything for a camera you have to look at the sensors etc.

Look at that Nokia with a 47mp camera

If you looking at using it for photos you need to look at samples of shots that you can get on review sites

That's true. But Sony and Nokia generally put excellent camera's on their mobiles. Especially their flagship ones.

All mobile phone manufacture's have their strengths in different areas.

My ideal phone would have a Sony camera, Nokia hardware, Samsung screen and processor along with HTC build quality and running HTC Sense. But that's not going to happen.

But as I said it may be something the OP considers important to them.

I was in the same situation. I went for sim only rolling plan and I'm waiting for S4 now. :D

Hi folks, thanks for all the replies! I didn't actually realise the S4 was rumoured to be released as early this year.

So I've switched to the €25 sim only online deal on Meteor which gives me 200 mins/unlimited texts/1gb data and like PrzemoF above I'm going to wait until the S4 comes out.

Also, from looking around the site today I noticed that the upgrade on S3 isn't all that great of a deal. For me I can get the phone for €150 and sign up again for an 18 month contract at €50 per month. However as a new Meteor customer (or new to bill pay) I could get the phone online for €180 and get the same package at only €40 per month and so it would end up costing me €150 more than a new meteor customer over the course of the contract.
