Definitely smacks of a development of the Il-76. Not that this is a problem. Any military airlifter will have T tail and high wing design. Payload of 66 tons is bigger than the Il-76 though. (I think the C-17 can handle 75+ tons)

2 stealth fighters in development, lots of drones being introduced, a military airlifter, a interim carrier under construction. The PRC armed forces are very much moving away from a defensive stance towards power projection. (not that this is a new thought) All they are missing is a new bomber is replace their Soviet era hardware.

It does look impressive and should add more badly needed transport capacity to the Chinese airforce. The aircraft does remind me of both the IL-76 and Kawasaki C-2. It would be interesting to see how it compares to the C-17 in terms of handling rough airstrips.

I agree with you totally on that point. It's clear to see that China is moving in a new direction when you look at statistics on Chinese military expenditure. The commissioning of the Liaoning, construction of large amounts of J-10s and the new stealth fighters are further proof of power projection. There were rumours that the Chinese were purchasing the Russian TU-22M bomber production line but it seems more likely that they'll concentrate on their own new bomber design.

At least the Chinese show an actuall flying example of their aircraft....

Here a press release for the new Iranian stealth fighter

Looks more like mock-up inspired by a guy who played too many flight sims.

And its appears that the canopy must lock using magnets as there is no evidence of any locking clasps/buttons......

It does look like a mock-up but I've seen footage of this thing flying on BBC...looked fairly genuine.

It does like like a mockup... or a UAV, perhaps. Certainly doesn't look like it could accommodate a pilot based on the hangar photos.
