Quick Release Wheels

    Hi, purchased a MTB recently, and want to get the quick release mechanism replaced with something to make it a little more difficult for scumbags to knick the wheels. Got quoted €25 for parts & labour to get this done in my local bike shop. Is this a reasonable price or does it seem high?

    (I wouldn't trust myself messing with my new bike, but I'd certainly stick around the shop to ensure I know how to do it for future reference.)

    €25 seems about right. There's basically no labour in it, replacing the skewers takes 60 seconds each wheel.

    They'll probably fit something like this, which I would expect to cost around €20 in an Irish shop;

    Of course, you could just lock it properly instead, so that when you have a puncture you can change it quickly.
