Combi-box set up help

Hi all - I would appreciate some advice on this. Moved into a new house and hoping that I can just plug in a box and work away without needing to call in the professionals.

The dish seems to have 3 cables coming out of it.

One runs off to a spare room but the cable coming into our living room is like two cables joined together, then splitting up.

From what I've seen, the standard input for combi boxes is a single jack. Will I be able to do something with this:

Sounds like it's was a sky set up, where the sky box needs 2 cables run to the back of it from the dish. I've just changed from sky to a combi/saorview box last week and just plugged 1 of the 2 cables in the back of the box and it worked fine for. The 3rd cable is probably running off to another room for multi room viewing.

Thank you! Which box did you get by the way and are you happy with it?

I got the Walker WP645TS-HD Saorview Combo in Powercity for €99, great deal. Not a bother with it, picks up about 457 free to view channels, but you have the option to delete the ones you don't use which is really handy! Not that I've got around to being that organised yet!

www.tvtrade.ie has been an endless source of info, brings you through all your options, has videos and manual for all the different box's set up etc. well worth a visit

A combi box will need a feed from a terrestrial aerial too. Outdoor is recommended for trouble-free reception, though you might get away with an indoor 'set-top' type, or maybe something in the attic.

On your dish it would be no harm to use cable ties or insulation tape to secure the cables to the bracket. The way they are now they will ware on the sharp edge at the back of the dish and water will eventually enter the cable.
