    Could be the head gasket

You might be lucky, and it's just the gasket. Were the head bolts re-tightened about 50hrs after it was done the last time?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

It's Prob the head gasket. When the head gasket does it leaks water into the engine. So would make sense u have twice as much oil and no water

maybe not so lucky could be the block.

Usually (but not all the time) when there is water in the oil its a leak in the block. A lot of the time the block is scrap depenign on where the hole is. If it is int eh bore then you may be aable to bore it out and fit a liner if not then teh block will need to be replaced.

Check the water to see if there is any oil in it.

Looks like your have to take the head off anyway. So i'd back it into a shed with a level concrete fllor and with good height over the engine in case you need to lift it out. Take off the head and check teh gasket and top of the block for blow offs. If the damage is bad you may have to skim the head and the block.

thanks for the replies lads. over 300 euro spent on the tractor 3 months ago on new head gasket and all injectors done. what would cause the head gasket to go again.?

Several possibles. Was the head skimmed last time it was taken off? It may be slightly warped, depending on what caused the last failure.
Another possible is as mentioned earlier, were the head bolt torques checked after 50 hrs running, if they were not, it's possible that the problem is nothing more than loose head bolts that are allowing water under pressure to get out of the cooling areas into the oil once the engine warms up.

Don't know the machine to be able to advise on this side of it, might be worth just checking the head bolt torques before stripping anything, if they are loose, set them to the correct torque, using the correct procedure, and that might be all that's needed.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

the head was fully skimmed and pressure tested prior to putting it back on. but the head bolts torques were not checked its in a shed at the farm now but will check them tonight or tomorrow.

occasionally ih can have a porous liner. if its that it needs new liners and pistons(come as a matched set iirc). probably need to get head redone as well when you take it off. 300 euro seems very cheap to get head and injectors done and head set. did one here in the autumn and it cost near 2000 with getting a new radiator

could be perished seals at the bottom of the liner, porous liner, porous block, defective headgasket kit, you will have to get the hands dirty to find out! u wont have to skim the head again unless the tractor has been over heating! did u do the work yourself last time?

no local tractor mechanic. it was just a head gasket that was put on it the last time the kit i think 60e it cost and the old one wasnt awful bad. heard of the seals on the bottom of the liner going off before could be that or any of the things you mentioned.will more then likely have to have the whole bi*ch taken apart again

That kind of thing is never any more than a temporary fix if it works at all. You'll always be thinking about when it will go again, and usually it will happen at the worst possible moment like pulling a bale trailer araound a roundabout.
