I have a reillo RDB oil burner with a warm flow ip45 condensing boiler, it is putting out black smoke, I think it may be a problem with the air flow settings or the nozzle size, had anyone any answers or suggestions, thanks

Did you put in the same size nozzle and same pattern eh or es or solid.you have to be careful with condensing boiler that you put in what they want.do that first and then check the air.also check baffles are in correct

You need a Flue Gas Analyser.

To know that you must have a FGA, and if so you didnt need to be asking the question in the first place.

You could try licking the end of your finger, turn your finger towards the wind, at the same time & at the same velocity, adjust the air damper. When your finger feels cold, you know you are the right setting!

Just kidding, as Billy says, the only way to adjust air to fuel ratio is with a FGA,l.

It was a stupid comment to a stupid question. You were told twice that you need a FGA. You CANNOT set the correct air to fuel ratio without one as you may as well be holding your finger to the wind as I suggested.
If you cannot accept the correct answer then do not ask in the first place.

was it broken down? did you carry out work on it, if so What exactly did you do, Change nozzle, pump pressure etc?

    everything cant be correct if

It sounds to be more than baffles.
There was many a standard oil burner set up by eye, oilpressure and air setting and even by smell. and alot of these ran fairly well, but this is not possible with condensing boilers they need to set up properly, manufacturers even require the use of a flue gas analyser during commissioning. the air fuel set up is critical with them

You need a flue gas analyser (and someone who can use it properly) to get it set up right

If you require a professional to set up your boiler / burner you can visit the OFTEC web site click on find an approved technician at the bottom left of the page, enter the county you live in and you will get a list of technicians in your area that you can call on.

as its a warmflow boiler the secondary heat exchanger has a rubber seal that usually comes off in about 3 pieces so it will most likely need to be changed

dont see many warmflows in my area but have done a few and they are a bitch for breaking once you break the seal they are only about 10 euros
