Hi, could anyone tell me where I could find out the explanation of car derivites. Eg, say I was looking at an Audi A4, what would SE, or s-line mean as regard the spec of the car.
I know you can have extras add when buying new, but an list of items included in,each derivite.
Toyota do stuff like T2, T3 , T4 etc. Volvo hve SE, Se lux. R-Design etc.
Is there some place to explain these with out trawling through each and every maufactures sales pitch laden website. I'm specifically looking at this in relation to Audi, Skoda, Toyota, Volvo and VW, but need others

Is this just on new cars, or cars from a specific timeframe?

Standard Specification changes from year to year. If you are looking for all that info on new cars, you are best off trawling the manufacturer's websites. For Audi & VW, download the relevant Product Guide - these are very handy and detail the specifications. I think Volvo have similar guides, but not sure where they are on the website.

If it's for used cars, good luck. I do have previous product guides for A4, Passat and all the Volvo's saved. Wouldn't have Toyota but may have some stuff for the Superb and possibly Octavia from the past 3 or 4 years.

It's mainly for cars 2 to 4 years old. Good second hand options.

Wikipedia usually have car histories and their evolutions, predecessors, successors, and info such as spec levels, model denominations, engine sizes, special editions, facelifts, mid cycle updates. Usually accompanied by a timeframe for changes.
Try it for whichever car you're interested in, you might be in luck.
