Cut tyre chafing tube

I've just repaired my third puncture in as many days. First one (or two) was down to a bit of glass which just made it through the tyre and gave me a slow puncture. The last one seems to be a sharp edge of the puncture resist band (Gatorskin) which was cut through by the original glass. This seems to have chafed a hole in the tube. I patched the inside of the tyre in a bid to prevent a re-occurrence.

Now, I've seen this before on a previous gator where a gash started chafing the tube. Is this something exclusive to

    a) Gatorskins?

    b) Puncture resist tyres in general?

    c) Any tyre?

There seems to be plenty of rubber left on the tyre so it's not due for replacement yet.

I got kevlar lining for the inside of the tyre myself, so far so good anyway.
