Im after getting my attic converted and I am wanting to set up a studio in this space. I am wondering about painting my walls to an 18% grey color, or at least some of my walls, but i am wondering what are the pro's and cons of doing this?

Is it a good idea? the walls are already an off white colour and the ceiling is white.

    Does it help?

What colour walls have people got in their studios?

    cheers

It depends on the size of your space. Pure white in a small place will just bounce light all over the place, but would be fine in one of those big cavernous studios.

You're in an attic, so I would imagine its a tight enough working area. 18% Grey paint is impossible to find here in Ireland, and it's also way too bright, you need something closer to 50% Grey. Go into one of those places that mixes up the paint for you and ask them for Dulux Ice Storm 2. It's actually discontinued, but it's still in their computer system, so you'll have no trouble getting it. Then paint your walls and ceiling with it. I did the same in my own studio a couple of months ago, got the tip from some nice folks on here and it's worked out quite well for me.
