Arm rest compartment "base"

Ok I know it's an odd one, but I need a new "base" for the storage compartment in my armrest of my focus.

I tried getting the part from ford but even though I gave the right part number and the part that arrived had the right part number on it, it still didn't fit.

Has anyone any suggestions as to what I could use? ideally want a cheap solution, a euro or two from ebay as I've already spent a fair bit on the parts and return postage.

Something covered in felt, but that's not really the right texture. Ideally it'd be soft(isn) but not "hairy" if that makes any sense.

    Thoughts?

breakers don't even have the whole arm rest unit, never mind parts of it!

You must have an awful rare focus. Breakers dont have it and ford part numbers dont even work.
I would suggest that if you cannot buy a suitable assembly from a breaker that you go to ford, let them use their system, see was the arm rest factory fit and if so, let them order the part. I cannot see how the correct part number is wrong. Did it have a different letter at the end or something?

No it was all spot on. Ford didn't have a clue what was going on, after all the rigmarole I left the car with them while I was in work and they couldn't understand it.

Hence now turning to making something which iv no issue doing once I find something suitable...
