I reversed my car into a family members car, damaging their bumper and mine. Damage isn't too bad. I have fully comp insurance. Just wondering would it be stupid to claim on my insurance? Should i just pay out myself instead of risking a high jump in my insurance. I am female and have never claimed before.

Personally, I wouldn't claim for anything under €1,000. It's not worth it to have a claim on your record (which must be disclosed to any future insurer) and the possible loss of NCB.

If funds are tight, will the family member let you pay them back over a few months?

Depends entirely on how much to repair, if it's €700 or less think very carefully about it.

OP you need to get a few repair quotes first. Once you have this you then you need to decide if it is worth claiming off your insurance or not. Also remember that if you make a claim you will have to pay the policy excess also depending how much that is on your policy.

Side note: Love the user name OP :)

If it's only a few hundred to sort out I'd just pay it myself to be honest
