    THE British taxpayer will get most of the benefits of Telecoms Regulator Alex Chisholm's expensive new Harvard education as he prepares to take up a better job in the United Kingdom.

    But not all of it.

    ComReg stumped up fees of over €13,000 to fund Mr Chisholm's attendance at a top notch management course in the Ivy League college in the United States five months ago.

    Chisholm is to repay a portion of the €13,000 plus cost of his Harvard management course which he completed last August.

    ComReg said that it paid for the senior managers in government programme course "as part of the organisation's commitment to training and development".

    Earlier this month, Chisholm shocked the industry by announcing that he was leaving ComReg for a better job in the UK.

    He is set to become the new chief of Britain's Competition and markets authority.

    "In line with ComReg's educational assistance policy 50 per cent of the Harvard Kennedy School course fees are being refunded by Alex Chisholm following his recent decision to leave the organisation," according to a ComReg spokesman.

    Now we have only got one Comreg commissioner it would be an excellent time to put in place someone who actually understands communications, rather than another clueless bureaucrat ?

    I don't why leaving a job you have no clue about and getting a better one would shock anyone. Hypothetically. Not thinking of anyone in particular. I would.
