Hi,I've got a three PAYG internet modem,I dont want to go on billpay,is there anything to stop me walking into the three shop and buying a phone simcard, toping up by E20 and putting it into the modem and using it for the all you can eat data thats included and not for calls, the broadband package would only give 7.5gb for E20

That's what I do. Have a 3 phone sim in a dongle, top it up with €20, all you can eat data for a month then I buy 4 data add on pack @ €4.99 each with my €20 credit which gives me 2gb to use over 4 months. When that runs out I top up again. and so on.

Hi, I'm thinking along the same lines, we live out in the sticks and get out internet via a globesurfer 3g router that I place a 3g sim into.
I'm wondering though is there a difference in a dedicated 3g sim and pay as you go sim with calls, sms and data? Do they have the same data capabilities?
If they do then I should go the pay as you go route and not get get tied into another 18-24 mth contract...
Could someone throw some light on this please?

    Much thanks

I tried this and it ate up my €20 credit within minutes while trying to download a big file. i.e. I didn't get the unlimited data. Mind you, I topped up using and ordinary cell phone (I don't own a smartphone) and then I transferred the sim to my unlocked mi-fi dongle. I think the problem was that the network detected that I wasn't topping up from a smartphone and therefore I didn't get the data.
