Wildlife film-maker par excellence and writer of many books on Ireland's natural history, he'll be sadly missed.

    RIP

Just hearing that Eamon de Buitlear has passed away.

I met him a few times walking his dog along Kilcoole beach and always had time for a chat.

    May he rest in peace.

inbetween eastern bloc animated "cartoons" about 2 pieces of string falling in love and other such nonsense, E de B was a great highlight.

we need his shows to be shown on telly again. RIP Eamon

Amuigh Faoin Speir was RTE's only wildlife programming back in the early 1970s and it was a must-see for all of us aspiring birdwatchers back then. Éamon de Buitléar and Dutch wildlife artist Gerrit Van Gelderen brought nature to life for us. Another good Bray man too! Old birders never die they just finish their lifelist.
    RIP.

A really strong memory from my childhood was his voice and the programs. Even looking at that footage again its all so familiar. Wonderful programs.

Sad to hear this. His legacy will live on.

I had the pleasure of his company about a year back. So vibrant in conversation, then he whips out the mouth organ...talk about enchanting an audience!

That memory will stay with me.

    RIP
